Why buyers look past Klaviyo

We read the 50 most recent Klaviyo reviews on Trustpilot and 50 recent ones on G2, and the two groups disagree. The G2 reviews average 4.49 out of 5, from store owners and agencies who like the flows, segmentation, and Shopify integration. Of the Trustpilot reviews, 49 were organic, written without any invitation from the company, and they average 1.18. Four reasons for leaving come up again and again.

The bill climbs with the list

Price is the most common dislike on G2: 21 of the 50 reviewers name it, most often as the list grows. On Trustpilot, organic reviewers describe being billed on an older, larger profile count after cleaning their list, and plan increases they didn't expect.

“As our contact list grew, the monthly cost increased pretty quickly, so it's something we have to keep an eye on.”Suraj J., G2, Aug 2026
“Its also really too expensive for what it does.”Will, Trustpilot, Jul 2026

It is built for online stores

G2 reviewers from a lead-generation company and a non-store website say the store focus meant extra setup and sales metrics that don't apply to them.

“As a non-direct-to-consumer website, it would be helpful if Klaviyo were better tailored to that model”B D., G2, Apr 2026

Support is hard to reach

About half of the 49 organic Trustpilot reviews describe support trouble: chat answered by a bot, slow email replies, or no help on lower tiers. Klaviyo publishes no phone support, and the free plan includes email support for its first 60 days only.

The editor is basic and the rest takes learning

Even satisfied G2 reviewers say the email builder and template choice lag the rest of the product, and that flows, segments, and reporting take time to learn.

“the actual email builder, which is a little bit more on the basic side”Peter J., G2, Apr 2026

The 6 best Klaviyo alternatives

  1. Campaign Monitor

    For newsletters, nonprofits, and agencies

Campaign Monitor fits the senders Klaviyo isn't built for: newsletters, announcements, fundraising appeals, and B2B updates. Reviewers praise its drag-and-drop builder and templates, and it holds G2's Easiest To Use and Best Support (Small Business) badges for Fall 2026. Lite costs less than Klaviyo's email plan at each size we checked ($13 against $20 at 500 contacts, $117 against $150 at 10,000), though it sends 5 times your contact count a month to Klaviyo's 10. Essentials adds unlimited sends and unlimited automated emails for $31 at 500 contacts. Agencies get client sub-accounts, private labeling, and markup billing on every paid plan, and nonprofits can ask sales for a 15% discount. The free trial runs 30 days with 500 contacts and 500 emails, no card. Ecommerce automation is lighter than Klaviyo's.

  2. MailerLite

    Lower price, unlimited sends

MailerLite is the cheaper way to keep sending a lot. Power, with unlimited monthly emails under a fair-use policy, costs $25 a month at 500 subscribers, $49 at 2,500, and $129 at 10,000, and unsubscribed or bounced contacts don't count. Every paid plan gets the full feature set, one of its G2 reviewers says it connects easily to Shopify, and there is a free plan for 250 subscribers. Support is email on Comfort and live chat on Power, with no phone line, and its own reviewers say advanced automation and reporting are limited.

  3. Brevo

    Free plan, priced by sends

Brevo charges for monthly email volume instead of list size. From 20,000 emails a month the plan covers up to 500,000 contacts, so Standard at that volume, $69 a month with unlimited automation workflows, can hold a list far larger than Klaviyo's $150 tier. The free plan sends 300 emails a day and stores up to 100,000 contacts, with Brevo branding. Phone support starts on Professional at $499 a month, and sub-accounts are an Enterprise feature.

  4. ActiveCampaign

    Automation beyond ecommerce

For lead-generation and service businesses that want Klaviyo-level automation without the store focus, ActiveCampaign builds journeys on tags, site behavior, and deal stages, and its G2 reviewers use it as a CRM too. Multi-step automation is on every plan, with more than 950 recipes and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Plus is $49 a month at 1,000 contacts and $189 at 10,000, billed annually. Human support is chat and email, and its own reviewers describe a steep learning curve.

  5. Constant Contact

    Phone support on every plan

If Klaviyo's support is the problem, Constant Contact answers the phone from 8am to 8pm ET on weekdays and 10am to 6pm ET on Saturdays, and its pricing page lists phone and chat on every plan, with Lite from $12 a month at 500 contacts. A 30-day money-back guarantee covers the base plan. Ecommerce path templates and custom automation paths are Premium only, and Lite runs one active path.

  6. Mailchimp

    A familiar all-rounder

Mailchimp Standard matches Klaviyo at small sizes ($20 a month at 500 contacts, $60 at 2,500) and costs less at 10,000 ($135 against $150), with up to 200 automation flows and 24/7 email and chat support. Two cautions: unsubscribed contacts count toward Mailchimp's bill, where Klaviyo leaves them out, and a few Klaviyo reviewers in our pull chose it over Mailchimp for its deeper features and Shopify integration. Phone support is only on Premium at $350 a month.

When to stay with Klaviyo

Stay if you run a Shopify store and your email revenue comes from flows. G2 reviewers in our pull build abandoned-cart and product-recommendation flows on order and browsing data, use predictive figures such as expected next order date and churn risk, and run email and SMS from one place. A few chose it over Mailchimp for that depth. Klaviyo rates 4.6 on G2 from 1,356 reviews, and it is a public company (NYSE: KVYO) reporting more than 205,000 paying customers.

If your list reads newsletters, donation appeals, or company updates, you are paying for store tools you don't use. Campaign Monitor is easier to learn, costs less on its Lite plan at every size we checked, and gives agencies client sub-accounts and private labeling. How we sourced this: on October 4, 2026 we pulled the 50 most recent Klaviyo reviews on Trustpilot (November 29, 2025 to September 14, 2026) and 50 recent reviews on G2 (April 9 to September 16, 2026). Trustpilot labels how each review was collected: 49 were organic, written without a link or invitation from the company, and 1 came through a company review link. We compare organic reviews only, because invited reviews mostly reflect how many a company asks for. Campaign Monitor's 18 organic reviews among its 50 most recent average 1.44 against Klaviyo's 1.18; both are low, the samples are small, and the windows differ. Prices come from each company's pricing page on the same date and are monthly-billing figures, except ActiveCampaign's, which it shows only as annual-billing prices. Quotes are verbatim.
