Reddit200,000 email list, emailed on average twice per day... Are we getting screwed by Campaign Monitor?
Hi guys... We run a news website with 200,000 email subscribers, most of whom we email twice a day. I haven't checked the exact numbers, but based on this, we're probably sending out close to 12 million emails a month.
At present we're with Campaign Monitor, who charges based on total number of subs, not on total volume of email sent.
We're paying ~$2000 AUD / month (about 1300 USD because the exchange rate is currently f*cked, but historically this would be closer to 1800 USD). We anticipate our db will grow to 300k over the next 12 months, which would increase costs by 10-20%.
I guess what I'm trying to establish is, for this size db and volume of emails, are we being screwed, or are we on a relatively good deal? We received a quote from ActiveCampaign (with unlimited emails) for about half the price if we pay yearly, but I'm worried about our deliverability / open rates being impacted from switching ESPs, as well as having to rebuild some API integrations we built.
How well regarded is AC vs. CM? Would you switch in our shoes? Is Mailchimp or Send in Blue worth investigating, or would they be way more expensive since they seem to charge partly based on volume of emails sent?
Thanks in advance!

RedditYeah, generally CM has been pretty solid and deliverability is good.
Switching to AC would save us potentially 10-15k AUD per year though. The downsides as far as I can tell are:
- We'd have to rebuild a bunch of API integrations and journeys
- We'd have to rebuild some templates
- We would have to warm up a totally new IP (the CM one has been sending for ~18 months)
- If deliverability with AC wasn't as good, lost revenues could easily negate (and then some) any savings we made from the switch
Maybe it's one of those things where we'll have to cop the extra $1000+ per month for that peace of mind of continuing on with something that we know works pretty reliably.

RedditCampaign Monitor Automated Journey question
I'm looking to create a journey in Campaign Monitor where if someone signs up, they will automatically receive the most recent email we've sent out.
The most recent email (weekly) will always change, so is there a variable or some other methods of sending the most recent email to a new subscriber?
Automation seems to allow you to pick a specific email, but not the "most recent" email.
TIA--

Redditcampaignmonitor doesn't have support for paying customers either. We setup a test account. We paid. We have not used the account for anything more that sending 1 email to ourselves. The next day, we were unable to log into the account. Two days later, we concluded campaign monitor is indeed a scam. I do not find any "big businesses using campaign monitor" If there is one big business using campaign monitor successfully, I will edit my post / rescind. Until then, everyone should be extremely careful and do not share an active credit card. Set up a credit card that has limits, a burnable card like you buy in a retail store near the cash out and load limited funds to mitigate further lost revenue after you pay campaign monitor and if, like us, they take your money and give no services.

RedditIs Campaign Monitor a real company?
I created an account. When I log in, it says to click the verification link in the email they sent me. The email had a verification code, not a verification link.
I have tried every possible avenue of customer support, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get in contact with anyone at the company. How does anyone actually sign up? Do they want customers? Are they even a real company?
